Shop Shorthanded for Interbike

Posted by Patty Tue, 25 Sep 2007 18:17:00 GMT

This week the shop will be shorthanded while most of the staff is at Interbike test riding cool new bikes for 2008, and wandering through a tradeshow with over 3000 vendors of bike goodies.

Bret, Sterling and Peter will be here to assist customers as best they can, while Charles, Berry, John and Patty are in Vegas. If the phone rings and goes to voice mail, or you come in and find your self in line for customer service, please accept our apologies. We considered being closed during the week but decided open and shorthanded would be better.

If you’re curious about interbike, you can check out the link above, or check out MTBR’s photos from the show. On Monday and Tuesday, the boys will be riding in Bootleg Canyon where there is some awesome rocky technical goodness to put bikes through a real trail test. Between the three of them, they should be able to ride about 15 different 2008 bikes.

Wednesday thru Friday they do the indoor part of the trade show. Wandering through the conference center, they get to pick up and fondle new parts, ask questions and try to stump the techs, and meet up with other movers and shakers in the bike industry.

Look forward to a couple writeups after the boys return. Until then, happy trails, and enjoy the lovely California weather.

Posted by Patty Tue, 03 Jul 2007 23:18:00 GMT

It had to happen sooner or later.
We need another mechanic, and we need one now.
Actually we needed one last month too, but we are just now getting the word out.

If you think you would like to work here, or know someone who would, please send them our way. We will be accepting resumes for about another week or so. Here’s the ad we posted on craigslist:

Park Tool Distinguished Service Award

Posted by PeterD Fri, 23 Feb 2007 02:01:00 GMT

Park Tools has a quarterly award they give out called the “Park Tool Distinguished Service Award.” And they just announced that Passion Trail Bikes is the recipient of the award for this quarter!

Congrads to Charles, John, Berry, and Sterling for all the work they have done to earn this award! Passion Trail Bikes is the first shop in Northern California to receive this award.

Special thanks to those who submitted us for this award. And for those who wrote reviews on us at MTBR, Yelp, and other places! It is good to see this feedback that what Charles is trying to build in Passion is coming through.

I can’t wait to see the real plaque – for now all we have is the online image (looks like they even have our logo engraved in to it).

Interesting set-up

Posted by PeterD Tue, 31 Oct 2006 23:15:00 GMT

One of the interesting things about coming in to Passion Trail Bikes is that you never know what you will see there. Last week was no exception, with an interesting track bike in the shop. Take a look at the photo at the right (feel free to click on it to see a higher resolution version) and see if you can figure out what is unusual about it?

Saddles

Posted by PeterD Tue, 24 Oct 2006 20:19:00 GMT

As one of the contact points on your bike, choosing the right saddle is very important. But choosing a saddle is a very personal choice, and one that works for one person may not work for another. How do you get around this?

One problem with choosing a saddle is that the best way to determine which one works is to ride on it for a while. But this may cause some wear and tear on a saddle, which may limit the ability to return it to a bike shop.

trials bike without saddleOne solution is to get rid of your saddle all together. This definitely prevents you from getting saddle sores, but unless your name is Jay and you like hopping up and down off of walls, this may not be right for you…

Ah, but all is not lost. Now there are 2 other options to help this process…
